Bio

Foer is an indie-folk and alternative pop music duo based in Manchester, England.

Formed in 2023 by Swedish singer-songwriter Fred Bjorkvall and Mancunian instrumentalist and music producer Geoff Gamlen, Foer consolidates a collaboration of long standing, which started in London at the turn of the 21st century. Introduced by a mutual friend, Fred and Geoff bonded over their love for acoustic music and shared influences, from Nick Drake and Leonard Cohen to Simon and Garfunkel and Elliot Smith. Two albums followed with four-piece Sam Kills Two (Sam Kills Two and Pretty Ugly), and one as duo Som Vinter (In Nature And Culture). The emotive and cathartic music of Foer embodies the musical
chemistry that has developed between them over the years.

Fred has been playing the guitar since he was a boy, but his path to music wasn't an easy one. He has struggled with depression for much of his life, and music has been a powerful source of comfort and healing.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Fred has a background as a morse code operator, which has given him a unique perspective on the power of communication. Meanwhile Geoff has been a linguist (Arabic and Russian), a British diplomat in Moscow, and has toured the world as a video DJ with Eclectic Method. Despite the challenges that come with creating music, Fred and Geoff have remained committed to their craft. They believe in the power of music to heal, to connect, and to inspire, and are determined to continue making beautiful music together for many years to come.

With their unique blend of influences and their deep musical connection, Foer aim to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression on listeners.
